Tim is a Partner & Managing Director in the Risk Advisory practice at AlixPartners and co-head of the UK business, and is based in London. He helps clients navigate problems and deliver transformation across risk, compliance, data, and technology.

Tim was previously the COO of a UK based investment management firm, where he was responsible for operations, technology, finance, legal, risk and compliance, and led a post-merger integration, an operating model transformation and a major outsourcing of fund accounting, trade settlement and custody. His other professional experience includes leading a global cybersecurity consulting practice, and other consulting practice leadership roles in risk and financial services.

He is an Honorary Fellow of the Research Institute for Socio-Technical Cybersecurity, hosted at the University of Bristol and sponsored by the UK Government, and a member of the World Economic Foundation Working Group on Metaverse governance.

Key Engagements:

  • Supported the design and implementation of a data privacy compliance program, over multiple years, for a major global tech firm, involving risk assessment, reporting, incident management and risk-based approval of data sharing
  • Assisted a major US-headquartered global tech firm with consultation and interpretation of a new data protection and privacy law
  • Led the investigation of a cyber incident at a major pan European omnichannel retail group, assessing their controls and risk exposure, and developing an improvement roadmap. Subsequently led the program management of the remediation program.
  • For European data provider that had suffered a series of risk events involving data causing potential customer detriment, led a review of the firm’s operations and controls, jointly mandated by the firm’s board and the FCA.
  • Designed a new privacy, security and enterprise risk management framework for a newly regulated fintech firm; and supported the regulatory authorization of the business
  • Following the decision of the UK Government to take temporary public ownership of Northern Rock Bank during the financial crisis, he was part of the team who supported the new Chairman to decide the future of the bank and implement a rapid assessment and recovery plan.
  • Supported the UK’s Financial Services Authority over a number of years on a series of critical engagements, including the post-merger integration of multiple regulatory agencies into one; the original organizational design and operating model, including the FSA’s approach to risk assessment; and a review of the FSA’s risk scanning approach after the onset of the global financial crisis.
